Birmingham

Birmingham is England’s second largest city with a population of over a million people. It is based in the midlands and is approximately a 2 hour drive or 1hr 30min train journey from London.

Birmingham is a vast, culturally diverse and cosmopolitan city boasting one of the UK’s biggest and best loved shopping malls – The Bull Ring. It has a vast array of activities, attractions and nightlife to keep everyone entertained and happy. Within touching distance of the city is one of the UK’s most famous and popular music events – V-Festival which has recently staged acts such as The Killers, Calvin Harris, Kasabian and the Prodigy.

The city of Birmingham has seen incredible investment and growth over recent times and is fast becoming a thriving metropolis. It is also becoming increasingly attractive to overseas teachers because of its vibrant city lifestyle and reasonable cost of living.

Schools in Birmingham are extremely diverse with a mix of high quality state and private schools and challenging inner city environments.

On the outskirts of Birmingham, there are many wonderful tourist places to visit. Stratford-Upon-Avon, the home of William Shakespeare is a stunning town filled with history, architecture and theatre. There is also the beautiful Warwick, famous for Warwick Castle and Leamington Spa.
